Commemoration of the Battle of Moholoholo
The battle fought in the Moholoholo mountains between Mapulana and the Swazi’s shaped the remarkable heroic history and legacy of Mapulana. The indigenous skills, technics, and science of war from the Mapulana victory against the Swazi attack is worth noting and historic even today. The historic accounts of the legacy of Mapulana remain a domain for proper documentation and further research. Owing to limited literature availability, the historic Swazi invasion of the Mapulana territory and subsequent failed attack at the historic Moholoholo mountains marks the first account about the Mapulana as a tribe and a member of the Sotho/Tswana people of the current South Africa. The commemoration of the battle of Moholoholo will therefore be held annually on the 20th December.
