Culture
The Mapulana Renaissance Group is a non profit organisation established to provide an oversight on the culture of the Mapulana and thus eventually becoming the custodian thereof. Culture is generally defined as the collection and application of knowledge and experience, representing ideas and habits of people. Culture is also a term that refers to a large and diverse set of mostly intangible aspects of social life. According to sociologists, culture consists of the values, beliefs, systems of language, communication and practices that people share in common. Culture is seen to include the material objects that are common to a specific group or society. Culture is distinct from the social fabric and economic aspects of society, however it is connected to them, both continuously informing them and being informed by them. The focus of the Mapulana Renaissance Group is to ensure the recognition of the heritage sites, establish the cultural villages and promoting the Sepulana language.
The heritage site is an asset that offers diverse social and economic benefits to the community. It also provides an effective educational tool for formal and informal education, serving as a source of inspiration for the young people, thus enhancing the development and knowledge of their language. The scope of work of the culture unit is captured on the slide showing the structure
